Shining women suit shining teeth.
I’ve been working for teeth whitening field for about 10 years,
and had my patients teeth shine and brighter as a dentist.
Recently I realized that I’d love to know people’s life more.
Normal life never exists.
Each woman has her own story.
These are super shining women that I’ve met all over the world.
I hope their words will help you to inspire your life.

What’s your profession?
I'm sento journalist and sento ambassador.
You were born in France. Now you are in Japan. Please tell us about your journey.
I was born in France, and moved to Germany when I was a junior high school student.
After spent there for a few years, I was back in France,
and went to university in Lyon. My major was Japanese literature.
I lived in Japan for the first time in 2008 as an exchange student .
After that I worked in Africa,
and then I got a chance to have a job and come to Japan again.
I have worked for companies in Japan, and became a freelance since 2016.
What is the difference between sento and onsen? Please tell us about sento!
Sento is about a place, it's a public bath for anyone.
Onsen is about the nutriments of water which is determined by law.
So sometimes sento uses onsen water which is very good for your health and skin.
Look at those beautiful paintings and arts inside sento.
It's not always painted Mt.Fuji on the walls, almost only in Kanto area.
In the sento in Kagoshima, Sakurajima is painted!
Also sento is a community. Of course, we should respect elderly people.
But in the bath, in the sento, everyone is equal, and open-minded.
You've lived in many countries, had many experiences. Compare to these countries, what do you like about Japan? And what do you dislike about Japan?
I love sento, of course. And Japan is basically safer for women.
But I don't like the fact that Japanese men don't know much about woman health
: periods, birth control.
Education level is lower for those subjects and those things are hidden as "humiliation".
On the contrary, sometimes they talk about sexal industries openly.
There is a huge contradiction here.
You seem so free and unconventional woman. Why did you get married?
I could imagine future with him.
That's the first time for me.
And I wanted to be family with him,
more than just a couple.
What is your future dream?
I want to be an interior designer.
That's my long term dream, and I'm planing to study interior coordating in a school next year.
I'd like to try to do house design and decoration, even it's not so luxury one.
And of course, I'd love to visit all sento in Japan.
I've visited 1000 already, but it's still half of them.
Also I'd like to publish an English book about sento.
Please give your message to Japanese women who want to find what they want to do and be independent like you.
Sometimes it is necessary to take risk in order to find it’s own way
; do new things and challenge ourselves.
And that it’s normal to be afraid of it
but after the first step of doing the action you should feel less afraid and more
in the things you wanted to try.
Thank you, Stephanie.
I'm very happy to meet her.
She is beautiful and smart.
Her eyes are shining when she talks about sento.
I really misunderstood that sento uses just a water,
and onsen uses "onsen" water.
That most of the sento use underground water like onsen.
A French woman taught me important Japanese culture.
Tomorrow, I'll go to sento in my area.
Thank you, Stephanie!
I'll look for next shining woman.
